That went much better yesterday. You folks know your stuff when it comes to Tolkien. The question was: What was Tom Bombadil carrying in his hands when the hobbits first caught sight of him? And the answer, as several of you said, was: A pile of white water lilies on a large leaf as a present for Goldberry.
Today’s question may be even easier, I’m not sure, so this time I’ll ask you not to go to your books, but try to answer from memory: What follower of Sauron had forgotten his own name and what was he called instead?
Answer and a new question tomorrow.
I think he was called the “Mouth of Sauron.”
dfoles,
I have to confess, I probably remembered the character because of the movies rather than from the books. (Even though i’ve read them I can’t count how many times, I’m a book gobbler and tend to not pay attention to the details.)
