The Archdiocese of Boston’s Religious Education Office has now revealed that [Talking about Touching will be implemented in parish religious education this fall. So, the new question for Fr. Coyne is whether parents who object will be told to take their kids out of sacramental preparation if they don’t like it?
Actually, JI, under Mass. state law CCD teachers and all people involved in parish ministry are technically “clergy” and have become mandatory reporters. So if you’re a lector or eucharistic minister or just the lady who volunteers to clean the church, you’re a mandated reporter.
That was not the archdiocese, but state legislators who implemented that little change.
