Spain’s Socialists v. Pope Benedict

Spain’s Socialists v. Pope Benedict

Pope Benedict will soon be traveling to Spain for the World Family Forum, and the country’s Socialist government has a less-than-warm welcome planned for him. A pro-gay conference has been scheduled for the day before the World Family Forum and it is being supported by the Spanish government, homosexual activists, and a coalition of anti-Catholic groups.

The Socialist party of Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has championed a whole raft of social engineering initiatives since coming into power in the wake of the Madrid train bombings in 2004 on anti-Iraq War sentiment. Since then, the government has pushed through bills legalizing gay marriage, embryonic stem cell research, and easy divorce. The government’s ambassador to the Holy See even admitted last year that the gay marriage law was approved two days before Pope Benedict’s inauguration as an intentional “finger in the Church’s eye.”

Spain’s Catholics haven’t been taking this lying down though. Millions of Spanish voters have come out in regular protests against the government’s policies.

  • The Spanish people made a deal with the devil and lost their souls.  What in Hell did they expect, if not Hell?
