Virtus and TaT

Some people have mentioned that the Virtus training on sexual abuse for parish volunteers is much better than the “Talking about Touching” curriculum being used in parochial schools and parish religious education. (Although, I have heard—and mentioned here—different things about Virtus.) Well, here’s a disturbing connection between the two:

VIRTUS and “Talking About Touching”
Providing children with an appropriate context

While researching existing programs for children dealing with the issue of child sexual abuse, VIRTUS discovered a very exciting program for young children entitled, “Talking About Touching.” The program, created by the Committee for Children in Seattle, Washington, integrates the complex issues of inappropriate touching into a comprehensive program promoting child safety. The program is a well-designed, effective curriculum for use in kindergarten and elementary school.
