You’ll notice I’ve made some changes to the blog recently, and I thought I’d point them out.
- You’ll notice that there are several Google Ad boxes on the site. Using them should help defray the cost of running things and keep me from having to ask for donations. There will undoubtedly be ads for things that are objectionable. Since the ads are based on what’s discussed on the page and I’m often writing about objectionable things, that’s unavoidable. However, if you tell me about the ad and—very important—tell me the web site it links to, I can ask Google not to display it again.
- Speaking of ads, there was an ad recently in the large blogads box on the left that some thought objectionable. I didn’t think so, but then I have a sense of humor and perspective. The “objectionable” part was a very small part of the overall ad. Once one of those ads is up, it’s very difficult to remove, so unless there is a very good reason to remove one, it stays until the end of its run.
- Apart from ads, we have a feature that many of you have requested. Now when you write your comments there are little buttons that will allow you to bold and italicize your text, to put up links, and more. It should be self-explanatory, but if not, ask me and I will try to explain it to you.
- You may have noticed on the lefthand sidebar some new photo things. There is one called “Most Recent Moblog Image” that takes you to my photo gallery and the most recent photo taken with my cameraphone. It could be of just about anything that catches my eye. There’s also a Flickr.com photo badge that links to my photos on that site.
