Received in the mail today, “The Collar” by Jonathan Englert, a book that follows several men as they study in the seminary for the priesthood. There was some controversy over the backgrounds of several of the men Englert followed, although I don’t think you can fault the book for the men accepted by the seminary.
Speaking of controversies, I also received “Ordinary Work, Extraordinary Grace: My Spiritual Journey in Opus Dei” by Scott Hahn. This is Hahn’s personal introduction to the biblical theology and spirituality of The Work. Until I heard about this book, I never knew Hahn was in Opus Dei, even when I was a student, so it should make for some interesting reading. He has a very populist style (in a good way) that should make it all very accessible.
