Walter Cuenin’s friends protest at the cathedral

You have to love Fr. Walter Cuenin’s friends and supporters. They just love to use the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for their demonstrations on behalf of a heterodox priest who resigned his parish after admitting to financial misconduct. And they’re not above using someone else’s parish to do their protesting.

Interestingly, Voice of the Faithful was the group organizing the protest at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston. Not all that interesting, actually, since it was Cuenin who was one of the driving forces behind the founding of VOTF and much of the leadership has been and is his coterie of disciples. Funny that it was the “Justice & Peace Committee” that sponsored the event. No much peace in that. I wonder if Fr. Chris Coyne, the pastor of the parish, knew that a parish organization was sponsoring it? My guess is No.

Church finance bill hits snag in Mass. House https://www.bettnet.com/?p=6102 Mon, 21 Nov 2005 14:41:59 -0600

That bill being pushed in the Mass. state legislature designed to punish the Catholic Church for the Scandal and parish closings, but sweeping up every other religious group in the net, has hit a snag in the House.

While it breezed through the Senate when the leadership snuck it in—so much for their vaunted transparency—it was lobbying from non-Catholic religious groups that stopped it short in the House.

But representatives of smaller religious organizations say the bill violates the constitutional separation between church and state and unfairly sweeps them into the middle of a dispute between the Catholic church and disgruntled parishioners.

“This is a legislative way of trying to seek change within the Roman Catholic archdiocese which is clearly not the business of the Legislature,” said Laura Everett, spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Council of Churches, which represents 17 Protestant and orthodox churches. “The rest of the churches are collateral damage.”

Bingo! This bill was about disgruntled Catholics, including several non-practicing heterodox Catholics, including some politicians, seeing their opening for taking the Church down another peg and removing her as a thorn in their side in the public square.

More like it sweeps little churches in with the Catholic church and her apostate laity who got elected to the Legislature.
