The Boston city councilor who wants to hold a voter referendum on how the Archdiocese is doing its job isn’t as keen on “letting the people be heard.” A Boston Globe political reporter points out that Jerry McDermott:

who is itching to open the door to voter opinion on the doings of the Boston archdiocese—seems considerably less enamored of letting democracy flourish in his own race for reelection to the Allston-Brighton district council seat.

He’s challenging the nomination papers of his opponents in council elections, trying to keep them off the ballot and leaving him unopposed. I guess what’s good for the goose isn’t good for the gander.
