I’ve been noticing in email, some blogs, and even some media articles about the radically pro-abortion Pamela Hayes on the US bishops National Review Board referring to her as if she was just appointed.
Uh, she’s not a new appointment. She’s an original member from way back in 2002, who was appointed along with pro-aborts Leon Panetta and Robert Bennett. As I’ve said before, I chronicled her pro-abortion ways right from the beginning, but being the tiny voice in the wilderness, no one heard me. But now that the National Catholic Register and Catholic World News have publicized it, she’s getting noticed.
I’m not trying to toot my horn, I’m saying that the situation is worse than most people make it out to be. It’s not that Hayes was just appointed to the board, it’s that she’s been a member all this time and no one on the bishops’ conference thought her radical pro-abortion views to be relevant.
What’s the deal? I really don’t get it.
If she’s pro-abortion, she’s not a Roman Catholic.
Why don’t they give the job to a Roman Catholic?
William Bennett is Catholic, Republican, and pro-life. He’s not on the Board.
Robert Bennett is Catholic, pro-choice and contributes to pro-choice candidates. He is the chair of the Board. (Bob and I went to the same high school about 15 years apart.)
They are brothers.
I agree with you on the point that it’s hard to take anything the bishops as a body say seriously urging Catholics to incorporate the pro-life teaching of the Church into their own lives if they cannot find pro-life lay people for these boards.
