The fruits of deconstructionism

This is the sort of thing that inevitably happens when art and aesthetics are separated from contemplation of the divine. When man turns the inner eye too closely open himself and ignores the light of God that shines forth, what is left is fetid and demonic.

A German artist is being feted for his bizarre and ghoulish fascination with death, mutilation, and eroticism. You almost want to say it could only happen in 21st century Europe, but I’m afraid that soon enough it will be here too.

Gregor Schneider has taken two identical homes, put three sets of identical twins inside and asked them to do identical, unspeakable things. This might be his most sinister work yet, says Gordon Burn.
