The empty autopsy gesture

The empty autopsy gesture

Fr. Rob Johansen explains why the supposed “goodwill gesture” by Michael Schiavo to allow an autopsy of Terri Schiavo after she’s dead and before she’s cremated is an empty one. Not only do neurologists say that it will prove nothing regarding her brain function (although it could prove or disprove the contention by some Terri supporters that she was abused by Michael), he has no choice in the matter anyway.

Under Florida law, the medical examiner must approve all cremations and won’t if there’s any possibility of future questions about the cause or circumstances of the death of the individual. My guess is that there is enough controversy surrounding the case that no ME will sign off on that cremation order.

  • Did any of you hear Bobby Schindler on the Glenn Beck Show today?  He and Glenn were discussing the big-hearted autopsy.  Then, they started talking about Terri’s broken bones that turned up on the MRI or bone scan several years ago.

According to Bobby Schindler, Terri had a broken wrist, ankle, femur, and several ribs.  Wow!  How does Judge Greer explain that?  Of course, Michael Schiavo blamed this on the physical therapists.
