In case you haven’t heard yet, Terri Schiavo has died. Her parents were allowed in for a last visit. At least she’s now at rest and we can pray for the repose of her soul in heaven.
On the other hand, the culture of death has advanced just a little more. A word of warning: Don’t get old, become disabled, or otherwise become inconvenient for your family or society because we’ve just learned the lesson that we’re now all disposable .
We should have learned that lesson long ago- at least as far back as when divorces started increasing, and possibly further.
I’m totally disgusted that a human being has been destroyed today.
Prayers for the Schindlers.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and perputual light shine upon her. May she be with you this day in your kingdom. May her family be comforted with the knowledge that she is now with you. In your infinite mercy grant to Michael Schiavo a spirit of repentance.
Terri was a living, tortured symbol for the forces of evil within our society. Now she is at last with our heavenly Father, at peace.
What troubles me more than the outbursts of hatred and venom, are the apparently cool, rational voices who had no emotion whatsoever, but rationalized the legitimacy of torture and death. I am more frightened by the Fr. Drinans and Fr. Paris’ than I am by the nutcases who lambasted her parents. More troubled by Charles Madigan in the Chicago Tribune, or the Chicago Sun-Times editorials than I am by overt evil.
Satan can take the form of reason and light. In this case he did. Just as he has in the slaughter of unborn children since 1973.
The reasoned tepid rationalists who condoned murder want to make me vomit.

Last night Sean Hannity verbally tore to shreads the thinking of Prof Thomas Shannon, a “Catholic theologian” and bioethics man who made statements contrary to the Vatican’s on the use of feeding tubes.
I’d like to know where this guy teaches so that I can write the president of the college and complain about his erroneous positions, those contrary to the Faith. But, alas, they never said where he teaches. Does anyone know him?
The lay people and little people must speak up for the pre-born, handicapped, old people and mentally impaired bc the bishops are too busy fighting the death penalty. (yes, sarcasm intended)
My check is going out today to the Priests for Life.

I can only hope Our Lady says, ” Come with me, Terri. I want to introduce you to my Son.”
You know that Terri has changed the landscape when you hear from a 26-year-old, as I did from my daughter last night, that young people in graduate school are now talking about Terri and about writing living wills. We have not heard the last of Terri Schiavo. Not by a long shot. For someone who was supposed to be a “vegetable”, she has had more impact than I, with all my faculties intact, could ever hope to have on our society. The ways of man are not the ways of God. May He not abandon His mercy as He dispenses His judgment upon America that we have brought upon ourselves.
Dom: Yes, the cuture of death has advanced just a little more, but so has the culture of life. The many people who have been confronted with this issue have been forced to think about what it all means. And our Christian hope tells us that many of them have come closer to Christ (who is life) as a result.
Yes, it is sad that it took so much suffering and death on the part of one person to achieve this, but isn’t that what we celebrated last Sunday?
I can’t believe Shannon claimed to be a “Catholic theologian” but doesn’t teach at a Catholic school. What’s that all about? He doesn’t have to submit to any level of Catholic authority then, does he?

I saw you on the Fox program Hannity and Colmes last night. On the program you misrepresented the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church regarding the licit use of gastric feeding tubes.
How can you claim to be a “Catholic theologian” yet disagree with directives issued by the Vatican?
I found it interesting that the lay person, Sean Hannity, with simple logic and use of Catholic teaching exposed your errors.

I’m thankful for Terri Schiavo’s life. I’ve been talking about her to my sixth grade CCD class for the last several weeks, my family has been praying for her and the pope, and my four-year-old was taken aback when I told her this morning that Terri died.
Just last night she said to me, “The pope has a feeding tube and Terri Schiavo has a feeding tube. The pope’s is in his nose and Terri’s is in her tummy.” Would my kids know anything about the Church’s teaching on euthanasia were it not for Terri Schiavo?

I wondered about Priests for Life. I didn’t see their activity on behalf of Terri Schiavo get any press. What did they do? I don’t remember seeing any of them at the hospice in Florida. Can someone fill me in?

One reporter asked Felos how he could state TS died peacefully and wiht dignity “when you starved her to death?” Felos stuttered and rambled and gave the questioneer a backhanded dismissal.

Why would a Bishop ban Eucharistic Adoration especially during the Year of the Eucharist?
Felos referred to Terri as ‘Mrs. Schiavo’ today in his press conference and said that Michael cradled Terri in his arms when she died. Somebody shoot me!
No, no no, midwestmom. Don’t say that! In honor of Terri, say Jesus make me a saint that I might fight for the honor and dignity of human life more perfectly!

Actually he ended Perpetual Adoration, which is bad enough. And he did it several years ago, well before the Year of the Eucharist.

Fr. Frank Pavone, who heads the Priests for Life, was at the hospice today, and I believe, also yesterday. He was interviewed numerous times before the news media caught on to who he is. =)
Actually, Terri’s mom and dad were not able to be in the room with Terri when she died. This information comes from Fr. Pavone, who was a witness.
I have not read that her husband was in the room either. And I certainly have trouble with the picture of his “cradling” her, etc. He wanted her dead in the worst kind of way.
At this point, they are fighting over the funeral, if you can believe that.

I printed out a screen shot of CNN’s main page right after Terri died. They had an AP photo of Terri’s sister, brother, and Fr. Frank Pavone (Fr. Frank, of course, in his clerics) walking out of the hospice together.
The caption:
“Terri Schiavo’s brother and sister leave the hospice where their sister died.”
Get that? No acknowledgment whatsoever of the other human being (horrors! You mean a … priest?) in the picture.
Then again, the Clinton News Network has been so good at denying the obvious during this whole ordeal, I shouldn’t be surprised.
midwestmom has clearly and publicly professed a desire to die (“just shoot me”) rather than see a world in which George Felos makes idiotic statements. So since George Felos is continuing to make idiotic statements it is my sad duty, burdened by compassion to take a 44 Magnum and blow her head off. She wanted it that way and who are we to deny her her last wish and allow the dying process to reach its conclusion.
