We went to South Portland today and specifically to Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth. This is perhaps the most photographed lighthouse in North America, although there are many contenders for that title. At top is a panoramic photo I took with my iPhone and pieced together from six separate shots using the Autostitch program.
I love the lighthouse but I think a competitor for most photographed would be the lighthouse at Cape Hatteras. Especially since it was moved inland a few hundred yards which was quite a feat and made it even more remarkable. Coming from Racine Wisconsin my favorite though is the lighthouse at Wind Point, just north of Racine on Lake Michigan.
