I’ve just received word that Cardinal Francis George of Chicago is scheduled to undergo surgery for bladder cancer tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 7 am. Please say a prayer for him.
The announcement was just made today and was unexpected, although the diagnosis was made last week and his family and certain officials of the archdiocese were informed at that time. The Vicar General, Fr. John Canary, will be running things while the cardinal is recovering. He is expected to make a full recovery.
