Some people have apparently gotten the impression I was referring to Cardinal Francis Arinze in my post about bishops who place themselves “above the liturgical law.” I was not. Arinze is not the prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, he is the prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship.
I was referring to Archbishop William Levada at the installation Mass of Archbishop Niederauer of San Francisco. Click the link on that post to see it.
Someone subsequently pointed out that Arinze is also seen in a photo wearing the stole over his chasuble, so a criticism of the cardinal could be made, once we understand the context of that photo.
