Lake Charles has a new bishop too

The other US episcopal appointment announced by the Vatican today was that of Bishop-elect Glen John Provost to head the Lake Charles, Louisiana, diocese. That see had been vacant since March 2005 when Bishop Edward Braxton was sent to Belleville, Illinois.

Provost is originally of the clergy of the diocese of Lafayette, LA, and was ordained in 1975. He is 57 years old.

  • I can only hope that the new bishop reverses former Bishop Braxton’s pathetic decision to ban the works of Flannery O’Connor from the Catholic schools of Lake Charles.
