The head of the Hadith Department in Al-Azhar University, Dr. Izzat Atiyya, recently issued a controversial fatwa dealing with breastfeeding of adults. The fatwa stated that a woman who is required to work in private with a man not of her immediate family - a situation that is forbidden by Islamic law - can resolve the problem by breastfeeding the man, which, according to shari’a, turns him into a member of her immediate family.

This was hilarious but I would urge you to consider that Mr. Clinton may well have confessed and repented of his sins in this area and we should presume such based on his wife still being with him and you may be sinning if you continue to hold on to his past sins while God has not.
Okay, looking at the link, this boils down to “Any organization or movement large enough will have some nut cases. It’s just that in the Information Age, we are all more likely to hear about them.”
If this were an isolated case, maybe I would buy it. But there are hundreds of these fatwas, maybe not all as bizarre, but just as arbitrary and self-deluding issued by imams everywhere.
Islam has no pope and central hierarchy, so it’s like non-denominational Protestantism in many ways where every preacher has his own spin that those who choose to follow him have to abide by and no one else if they didn’t want to.
