Gay activist Mass. senator to resign

One of the leading homosexual activists in the Massachusetts Senate is resigning to become the head of Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation. Jarrett Barrios has been one of the leading voices in the Legislature against a constitutional amendment to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman. He “married” another man and they adopted at least one child.

Unfortunately, the June 14 vote on the amendment will come well before Barrios leaves the Senate.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation is a virtual arm of the Democratic Party in Massachusetts, its board well-stocked with Democrat operatives and advancing a number of liberal causes including a recently passed universal health care law.

One of the sillier episodes of Barrios’ career was his short-lived campaign to have the marshmallow sandwich spread “Fluff” banned from school lunches as a health hazard for children. Fairly emblematic of his political approach.
