In this article by Stephen Greydanus, actor John Rhys-Davies, who plays Gimli in Lord of the Rings, expands on comments I linked to earlier about Tolkien’s vision and its relation to the defense of Western civilization. He says that Tolkien saw that some generations would be challenged and if they did not rise to the challenge, then they will be lost. He then goes on to defend Western civilization, name Islamic extremism for what it is, and even extols “dead, white males.”
