This could be the first one. A county prosecutor is saying that he will try to indict Bishop Thomas Dupre of Springfield. No bishop has yet been indicted on charges he molested youths. If Dupre did what he’s accused of, I hope he pays the price. At least this is not just going away because Dupre cut and ran.
If Dupre is found guilty, I hope he is also made to pay the penalty for having sheltered other abusers in the diocese. It’s apparent that a man compromised in such a way would also probably turn a blind eye to the same sin in others.
