Father Robert Drinan is being awarded the American Bar Association’s highest award at its convention this year. Drinan is the most liberal, most outspoken heterodox priest in the country today. He was a representative in Congress until the Vatican ordered that his superiors tell him to quit. Most infamously, he was the one who provided liberal Catholic politicians like Ted Kennedy and Mario Cuomo with the moral justifications to support abortion so that they could continue to call themselves Catholic while doing everything to advance the cause. You might say he’s the father of “personally opposed, but ...” and the “seamless garment.”
Drinan and the national lawyers’ group: They’re perfect for each other.
Fr. Drinan is now advising Sen. John Kerry on how to word his “religious” beliefs using the age-old rhetorical techniques of ‘broad mental reservations’. His association with Sen.Kerry is done through the intercession of Mary Beth Cahill, Kerry’s campaign director(who is being loaned to him by Sen. Ted Kennedy). Mary Beth started her journey into politics when she was a student at Marian High in Framingham. Fr. Drinan was running for office as a Representative and had an office a short distance from Marian High. Mary Beth and some other students volunteered to help him. So she knows Fr. Drinan and his way of obfuscating Catholic beliefs from her early training at the feet of Fr. Drinan. What a perversion of Catholic education!!
I wonder where Dante would have put Drinan and Greeley…..low on the rungs of purgatory or high on the rungs of hell??

As I read about all the awards and honors given to Fr. Drinan, I am reminded of the saying: “You have already received your reward…”

I think that we should start a petition to get that free copy of the Spiritual Excercises permanently pinned to the desktop of every Jebbie.
Maybe we can also start a petition to have the Scholastics to learn them while in formation…..what do you think?

N.B. I think that Dante would have sent them to Level 7, Violent.
