Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, Rhode Island, has been hospitalized for “routine tests” because he’s been suffering from chronic back pain.
Tobin has undergone several tests, including a magnetic resonance imaging test.
“He is still experiencing pain and the doctors are continuing to evaluate and treat him,” said Guilfoyle.
Let’s hope he has a swift recovery, and not just because he is scheduled to celebrate a Tridentine Mass in his diocese next month. A reader writes:
I wanted to make you aware (if you are not already) that Bishop Tobin will be coming to Holy Name of Jesus to preside from the Throne at the 11:00 a.m. Tridentine Mass on December 17. Holy Name of Jesus is at 99 Camp St., Providence, RI. Bishop Tobin will be preaching and will give a special indulgenced blessing. There will be a “pot-luck” lunch in the Auditorium and the Bishop will be able to meet with the people. Also there will be an Advent Concert at 3:00 with the Schola Cantorum which is exceptional. We have a beautiful Latin Mass there every Sunday with the Schola Cantorum - we are very grateful to be so blessed!
