Wired interviews my favorite TV chef, Alton Brown. He is the Mr. Wizard of the kitchen and besides his constant puns (one reason I like him) he appeals to my inner science geek by getting into the why of cooking as much as the how. Because if you know why, you can come up with all kinds of variations on how.

    He’s my favorite as well.  As a matter of fact, my children gave me a “Good Eats” DVD collection last year for Father’s Day. 

     

  • The DVDs really come in handy when it’s time to cook something a little differently. 

    Good Eats is really a good show, IMHO, because as Dom says, Alton Brown explains the scientific reasons for doing certain things. 

    My wife says it would take too much time to do things in the manner he does, but I don’t see it that way – that’s why I get to cook on weekends, I suppose.
