Since I criticized Zenit yesterday for it’s press-release style story about the Salesians’ non-evidentiary denial, let me point out how Zenit should have dealt with the Salesians’ statement, by pointing to the Dallas Morning News version. Of course, it would not have been identical, since the DMN was the source of the stories, but I would have liked to have seen at least some evidence that Zenit tried to follow up with the Salesians to try to get them to respond to specific accusations. That’s where the crux of the problem is. It’s not the reporting of the Salesians’ statement, but the lack of context, followup, or any attempt to get the whole story.
