In all the discussion of homosexuality, the priesthood, same-sex attraction, the Scandal, and even gay marriage, it’s become clear that we all need a clearer understanding of what the Church teaches on the subject, and so I wanted to review the available documentation. There was that document from the 1960s that arose that seemed to say gays should not be ordained. Then there was the Declaration on Certain Questions Concerning Sexual Ethics from the CDF in 1975. And then there is Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons, also from the CDF, published in 1986.
