Was it on the grassy knoll?

The lawyer defending Bishop Thomas O’Brien in the hit-and-run case says he’s found the second car. Specifically it’s the second car that apparently ran over the guy that O’Brien is alleged to have hit first.

Attorney Tom Henze said police failed to hear a partial license plate number given the night of the death, and that he heard it while listening to tapes of police radio transmission. The police said they will follow up on the lead, but that it doesn’t mean the car was involved, and even if it was, it doesn’t clear O’Brien of the charges. Furthermore, O’Brien’s lawyer is now being questioned as to how long he had this information and whether he obstructed an investigation. Oops.

I don’t know what the lawyer hopes to gain by this information, unless he’s trying to say that O’Brien may have hit the guy, but it was the second car that killed him. That seems to be a stretch.
