My friend Melanie, posting in a comment below, said she saw the following on the Jefferson monument in DC when she was down there last week:
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever…”
That applies so very much today, especially when you look at what our courts and elected officials have been doing just the past year or so. God is merciful and He is just. His justice comes like a terrible and swift blazing sword. I tremble too.
