Even as the US Army and Marines rolled inexorably toward them, the butchers in Baghdad continued their reign of terror, as if the madness of evil can’t sense its own impending end. Matthew McAllester, one of four journalists who had been detained by Saddam’s regime and released this week, recounts his tale. They were held in a main prison, and observed people being mercilessly beaten. Soon, very soon, they will receive their own just, temporal punishment. And perhaps soon, their own eternal judgment.
