The show must go on

Here’s a nice story about a priest who ministers to circus people. Fr. Hogan, a Boston priest, is the official chaplain to the 65 or so circuses in the United States, appointed by the US bishops’ conference.

People might think such a chaplaincy is frivolous or that the circuses are full of shifty people, but those thoughts are born out of old stereotypes and biases. Circus people are like you and me, and are no different than a traveling Broadway troupe, just that their performances are different.

It’s a nice story about an unusual ministry that many of us might not think about often enough.
