Lots of reports today about the civilian deaths in a marketplace in Baghdad today. The Pentagon says it wasn’t one of our bombs or missiles that killed those people. We already know that Saddam was acquiring US uniforms for his troops to commit atrocities to blame on us. What’s to prevent him from lobbing an artillery shell into his own people for the same effect?
There’s also the seemingly inexplicable movement of the Medina Division from around Karbala and troops from Basra. Maybe Saddam’s generals think that the sandstorms provide their only hope of cover from air attack. Doesn’t seem to be the case, but what other choice do they have?
