The good outweighs the bad

It’s time to pay the piper in Louisville. With the $25 million settlement of sex abuse cases, all kinds of ministries are now going to be deprived of funding and the poor and needy will be hurt. All because some bishops didn’t do the right (and common sense) thing. But we shouldn’t blame the bishop:

Though there have been calls for Archbishop Kelly to resign, many people here stand by him. “I think the good he’s done outweighs the things he let slide,” said Cathy Stone, 78, from the east side of Louisville. “Nobody is perfect.”

With all due respect to my elders, that’s like saying Hitler wasn’t all bad because at least the trains ran on time.
