This federal scientist has gone public with a scandal—the government pays him $100,000 a year to do nothing. He goes into the office every day and does work suited for an intern and gets the big bucks—and this has been going on for seven years.
The newspaper makes him seem like a pawn in this awful scene of government waste (how many of these stories did we see while Clinton was president?), but it fails to ask the obvious question? Why didn’t this guy quit seven years ago? Oh sure, we all say we’d like a job where we do nothing all day and get paid big bucks for it, but after the first few months wouldn’t you get bored? Feel unfulfilled? But this guy has been on the public teat for seven years! It’s time to wean him.
This guy is as emblematic of government hacks as the situation is emblematic of government waste.
