Maybe it’s just me, but I haven’t seen that many April Fool’s jokes today—except my mom who sent her kids an email that she had been laid off. (Funny, Mom. Nearly gave me a heart attack.) The only other one I saw was from Tech TV’s The Screen Savers that said they had been taken off the air. I seem to recall there weren’t many jokes last year either. Perhaps in this post-9/11 world—and especially now with a war going on—it just doesn’t seem right to pull pranks. Little ones are okay, I guess, but it feels like people in general are on edge. It would be kind of cruel to yell “boo!” at someone who’s already jumpy. Maybe there’s a sense of that right now in America.
