It seems the Boston media looks at Catholics energized by the Scandal in one of two ways. Either they’re people who call for Cardinal Law’s resignation and have their own agenda for how they want the Church’s teachings changed or they’re faithful Catholics who think everything’s hunky-dory and would the media stop persecuting the poor Cardinal? The situation is more complex than that.

There are some of us who still respect the Cardinal for what good he has done, yet deplore his actions and inactions in dealing with the perverts, think he is supremely naive or gullible, and has become an obstacle to resolving the crisis of faith. Just something to remember when reading media accounts.
