Kerry, McCarrick meet

John Kerry called up Cardinal McCarrick in Washington, asking for a meeting. After their private 45-minute confab, both declined to say what was discussed. A perfect opportunity for Kerry. Here he can re-establish his Catholic credentials by getting a meeting with the cardinal who has been most sympathetic to his approach to Catholicism in public and holds a meeting from which people can draw the conclusion that everything is hunky-dory. If it was such a private meeting, why did Kerry’s people alert the press? My guess is Kerry got a pat on the head and was sent on his merry way with reassurances that he doesn’t have to fear the US bishops.
