I’ve been watching the news coverage from the Gulf Coast all day and it’s overwhelming. The Truth Laid Bear has a blog aggregator for Katrina information. Sometimes the more interesting information is coming from blogs.
Even taking into account the usual media and political overexcitement and overestimation, it’s going to be a long time before New Orleans is a functioning city again. On TV, it looks like one of those post-apocalyptic movies. My heart really goes out to the people there. And we’re getting very little to nothing from the hardest hit areas outside of New Orleans, Gulfport, and Mobile, where the TV crews are holed up. I have a bad feeling that there may not be anything left in those places.
