It’s an op-ed in Arab News and it’s an interesting look at how non-Western, probably non-Christians see this whole mess from the outside. They rightly see those who support allowing a gay bishop as hypocrites who change Scripture’s meaning to support their own desires.

In other words, someone who holds to mainstream, orthodox Catholic teaching is an extreme right-winger to these people—including the liberal Catholics in the Senate—and must be opposed. And this is what the Republicans mean when they say of judicial nominees, “Catholics need not apply.” Because if you’re an orthodox Catholic, you won’t be allowed to become a federal judge.
