Identity politics in the Church

Neighbor Tom Fitzpatrick has a good post on the Boston Globe‘s article today on the impact of immigrants on the Archdiocese of Boston. Like he says, the fact is that less than 10 percent of Catholics in the archdiocese are immigrants and that expecting the whole Church to change everything to accommodate such a small minority is little odd.

A little sidenote: Over the past week or so, both major Boston newspapers have been running articles in anticipation of Archbishop O’Malley’s installation tomorrow. In a way, it’s a way for them to get out all the other “ways we want to change the Church” articles that they haven’t been able to run over the past year in response to the Scandal.
