He is “in a bad way”

I think this time all the talk about the Pope’s frailty isn’t just media speculation. Now even bishops, and not just bishops who are hoping for a new pope, are starting to talk, including Cardinal Ratzinger. He told a German magazine that the Pope is “in a bad way” and asked the faithful to pray for him.

We’ve heard similar things from other bishops in recent weeks. And like I said before, the apparent rushing of things like Mother Teresa’s canonization and beatification (which he backed off from; now he’ll only beatify her) and the consistory for new cardinals, as well as his drastic ublic weaknesses in September all point to the coming of the end.

Selfishly, I don’t want him to go, but to stay with us and help lead us in these times which trouble the Church, scandal and war and disunity over Truth. But, on the other hand, he has been a good and faithful servant of the Lord and he is deserving of his rest and reward. Pray for him.
