My friend Paul sent me this link to a travel story about touring the whisky-making region of Speyside in Scotland. Read the article’s glorious tale of visiting ancient distilleries and pubs, drinking aged Scotch whisky, playing golf, and eating fine food and tell me you aren’t immediately wondering how you could pull off such a trip in the near future. On opening the page and seeing the photo, the first thought was of Tolkien’s Shire. Whisky distilleries are what I would call distinctly “hobbitish.” It’s a manly thing.
