The discovery and recovery of Elizabeth Smart after 9 months is a miracle. I’m sure I speak for a lot of people when I thought there was no way she was still alive. Unfortunately, she’s probably been through a living hell.
I was initially suspicious of the fact that she apparently didn’t try to get away, but police are saying she may have been brainwashed. I’m sure we’ll know more in coming days.
The people I really feel bad for are the parents of other kids who have been missing for a long time who will been given hope by this only to be disappointed. I’m thinking especially of Molly Bish, a teen girl who was abuducted from Warren, Mass, in June 2000. she just disappeared, almost into thin air and without a clue. I wish her poor parents could just know one way or the other. And now are they thinking, if Elizabeth could be found, maybe Molly might?
I’ll keep them in my prayers, all parents of missing children and the children themselves.
