In the Diocese of Covington, Kentucky, eight percent of the priests over the past 50 years are believed to have committed sexual abuse. That’s 30 out of 372. However, the article leaves some questions unanswered: Where those priests evenly spaced out over time or was there clumping during certain time periods? How was their guilt determined? Was it based just on allegation or did there have to be evidence or a conviction as well? what were the ages and sexes of the victims?
In other words, how many of those 30 were true pedophiles, how many were adult men having sex with teen girls, and how many were homosexuals “chickenhawking” teen boys? The number alone is shocking, but insufficient.
