Foreign students attending a public university are protesting new fees. The fee pays for the international student office and for the federally mandated program to monitor foreign students, preventing terrorists from getting student visas.
Critics of the fee say it’s unfair to ask the 1,600 foreign students to pay for a system created to monitor them and wrong to ask only foreign students to bear the costs.
Why should American taxpayers subsidize foreign students who will either take the degrees home or supplant a US worker upon graduation? Why shouldn’t a program meant to prevent abuse of the system they’re taking advantage of not be funded from those students?
Looks like these students are getting a good “liberal” education: They’re already acting entitled.
