Cutting yourself

Cutting yourself

There’s an epidemic of self-mutilation. According to one study, 29 percent of girls and 19 percent of boys at one high school have engaged in cutting, burning, hair-pulling, and other typesof self-mutilation. they say that one of the reasons for it is that it becomes a quick fix for relieving high pressure.  “Rather than work through complicated feelings, some young people physically hurt themselves to numb the pain of failed expectations.”

Not to minimize the mental health implications, this is also demonic. What could be more evil than what tempts these kids to hurt themselves. The article says the cutting causes an endorphin high and maybe there’s more than a little addiction here as well. It’s scary the ways that modern society twists and turns people.
