Christmas with the Bushes

So did anyone else get a White House Christmas card? Okay, so probably ten million other people who gave 20 bucks to the GOP this year got one, too.

Much has been made about the photo on the cover being of a piano in some room in the White House and not discernably Christmas-y. And yes, there’s no specific reference to Christmas, calling it the “holiday season.” I suppose it had to function equally for Jewish, Muslim, and other Americans as a New Year’s card. One thing it does have is Scripture: “For the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations.” (Psalm 100:5) A nice touch that—no compromise with the rabid anti-Church staters, like Americans for the Separation of Logic and Reason… I mean, ... for the Separation of Church and State.

Ah, now that I look at the back of the card it says the cover illustration is a painting of a 1938 Steinway in the Grand Foyer. And, surprise, it’s made by Hallmark. You can see the card here as well as other Christmas cards from other presidents.
