The Mars rover Spirit is now responding to NASA. For several days the scientists at JPL/NASA were unable to contact the rover and it had evidently gone into some kind of safe mode. It must have finally received the control-alt-delete command and rebooted. That’s what you get for running Windows XP on it. They should have used Mac OS X, an operating system that never crashes.
