The Diocese of Worcester, Mass., has released details about how much it has spent on settling sex abuse suits. The diocese and its insurers have spent $2.1 million over the last 50 years. That’s actually not that much, even when you take into account its small size. Boston, which is right next door, is estimated to be considering $100 million settlements and that’s just to settle the current cases, not cases that had been settled before.

It is interesting that when they go for comment on the disclosure, the Globe quotes a historian at Holy Cross College who I believe was instrumental in founding the local Voice of the Faithful chapter and another leader of VOTF. More evidence of the Globe turning VOTF into something it’s not—representative of the majority of Catholics.
