Cardinal Law has resigned as chairman of the board of trustees of Catholic University of America. Did he resign as a prelude to something else or just out of recognition that his current problems prevent him from being effective there?
UPDATE: He resigned as chairman of the board but remains on the board. He had been chairman for 12 years and his term was due to expire in June and had already indicated he would not run for another term. So why the jump in schedule? It gets more suspicious. The Boston Globe says that Cardinal Law is expected to meet with the Pope tomorrow or Friday and offer his resignation again.
