The Mass. attorney general Tom “Grandstand” Reilly has released his grand jury report on the Scandal in Boston. As expected (and as he leaked during dead news time—Friday afternoon in mid-summer) he isn’t going to indict any bishops in Boston. First he minimizes that damage by leaking it early, then he goes for the jugular on Wednesday with this report.
While the archdiocese reports 789 complaints over the last 63 years, Reilly finds reason to believe it’s over 1,000. Why not, since 1,000 is such an impressive number. And it’s not like he actually he has to prove his assertion. He just has to throw it out there.
