Two seminaries?

  • Denver has at least two seminaries: one dioscean, one missionary. They may have a third as well. In fact, two from the missionary seminary are visiting the Diocese of Manchester this month. This seminary is sending pairs of twos to each diocese in the USA this summer for missionary visits to proclaim their joy in Christ. They won’t be blogging but rather doing legwork.

  • I think the point Rocco wanted to make was that Baltimore has two diocesan-run seminaries.  I used to be under that impression as well.  So far as I understand it though – Mount St Mary’s is, unlike St. Mary’s, independent from the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  It’s also my understanding that this fact is one of the reasons only one of those seminaries earned the nickname the pink palace.

  • That list from Villanova is only approximate: it includes some seminaries of various Eastern Orthodox (non-Catholic) churches; and it omits some Catholic seminaries (e.g., Weston in Cambridge, MA, and the FSSP seminary in Nebraska).

Fortunately, Bl. John XXIII Seminary seems to be not completely under the control of the Archdiocese of Boston, or it probably would have been stuck with some of the Archdiocese’s financial burdens too.

While they’re at it, would they mind proclaiming their fidelity to all the Church’s doctrine, including that of the Council of Trent, and also the Church’s universal liturgical norms?  Thanks.

  • Rocco’s all wet again:  Los Angeles sports St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo and a fabulous bathhouse in West Hollywood.

Oh, lighten up.  In LA, it’s either laugh or cry.
